I've developed quite a fondness for Flickr lately. If there's anything I care to look at, it's on there. I love looking at the photography and use the option on there to view what they deem to be "interesting" photos. I swear I could look at them all day. I don't get to much time to peek at them lately because work is so demanding. Tonight I'm feeling a bit defeated and I need a bit of home. I just search for Grand Rapids and instantly I see images of what, for me, will always be home. I see they've put up new directories in EastTown and see new shops. I see old familiar things that bring me comfort. I love to look at the pictures and see if I can remember this building or that or figure out where they've been taken. It's inspired me to go out and take my own pictures of the sort. Only, mine will be of my adopted city which frankly will never feel like home, no matter how much people tell me it will eventually.
Just now by searching for the Calder I found pictures from a guy I went to college with that I had a huge crush on. He was wicked smart and bookish and really cute. His name is Eric Snowdeal so I know it's gotta be him. How many Eric Snowdeals are there in this world? Sometimes I just need a bit of cheering up and I find it in the oddest places sometimes. My birthday is in a few days and the gals at work surprized me today with cake and presents. They really spoiled me. I got a movie gift card and a gift card to Chipotle which is a little piece of heaven on earth. That cheers me up, too. Blaine and I can have a couple of date nights on those cards.
To all the people I left behind in Michigan (and Boulder), I miss you. Even though you may not think I do because I'm awful at keeping in touch, I really miss you. And to anyone going to Festival, I'm really really jealous.
