I just gotta rant a bit on this whole episode. This is just a small speck to pick out from the tragedy, but it's something I've heard a few times and it always stands out to me. The shooter was Korean and now Asians, specifically Koreans, are worried about retalliation. I have the news on and they were speaking to a Korean man from the same town the shooter was from. He was saying that the shooter could have been any race or nationality. Does this even need to be said??? I'm not outraged at the Koreans for being nervous. What upsets me is that the whole idea even has to be brought up in 21st century America. It's so sad that for some ignorant people the actions of one madman can reflect poorly on an entire nationality. The thought would never even enter my mind. I really hope the Koreans are paranoid delusionals. That's a preferred reality to me rather than blind racism and ignorance that would allow anyone to paint people with such broad strokes.
Good. Now that I got that out of my system, perhaps I can get back to bed. It is 4am after all. Peace out.
