Earlier this week my beloved college/adulthood stomping grounds were rocked by a gas leak that exploded one building. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. And luckily my beloved Yesterdog was spared. The building that blew up was right across the beautiful brick street. It makes me very sad. The building that went was a two story that had several small businesses in it. For a while it had a cool record shop called Eastunes but that was really the only thing I ever frequented there. Mostly, it's just very sad for me to see part of that neighborhood destroyed.
This is the only decent picture I can find of the building that is no more. And here it is now from the opposite angle. Notice how close Yesterdog is. Yesterdog not only has the best dogs in any town ever, but is where Blah & I had our rehearsal dinner. Good times. If you're ever in Grand Rapids, I highly recommend the Cheddar. Be sure to check out their website so you know how to order first.

It was a freaky random thing. Don't worry it will be fixed. EGR wouldn't dream of leaving a pile of rubble laying around. You do know of course the movie "American Pie" is about EGRHS and East Town.
I know the rubble will be gone. It's just each building is so unique and Eastown is one of my favorite places in the world. It all brings back a million memories. The first time Blaine came to see me I took him to Yesterdog because of "American Pie". I had no idea how much he'd love it. I'm glad I thought of doing that.
