Seriously. I really wanted the Obamas to get a shelter dog, just for the example it would set. Making a donation is fine, but it doesn't convey the same message. It smacks of "Shelter dogs are great, if you're into that sort of thing. They're not good enough for me, but to each his own." It all brought to mind these horrible Pedigree commercials that I can barely watch. Here's the saddest of them all.
