The Very Lovely Grand Rapids Art Museum

I'm very proud of my beloved Grand Rapids, even if I get teased for it.  Well, here's one big reason to be proud.  They've gone and built a new art museum.  Isn't it pretty?  Here's a fabulous showcase of how awesome it is through and through.  Go see the photos of what they've done.  I do admit I was kind of sad to hear that they were building a new one.  The old one was in a very old building and had lots of character.  I had what I guess was my first date in one of the grand rooms upstairs.  It was a small pot luck with maybe 6 people there.  And it was just The Art Museum.  I'm just a bit nostalgic.

Well, I can say that they did a good job.  Not only does it look like a million bucks (more like a few million, to be sure), it's LEED certified, thanks to Peter Wege.  Gold LEED.  One of the first in the country.  That means it's very environmentally friendly.  All I can say is go look at the pretty article and tell me it isn't the most awesome building you ever did see.  I can't wait to see it.
