Cats

Another story that's been played over and over lately is the overly obese cat. They've been weighing in around 40 pounds or so. I'm so tired of people getting a big chuckle over this. It's not cute! It's not funny! I see these poor animals and my heart breaks. Granted, every now and then you're going to have a cat with a "gland problem" but not this often. I saw one lady who fed her cat whole chickens every day, or something like that. That's animal abuse, plain and simple. If my mom had locked me in a Dolly Madison factory as a baby and let me gorge until I was a 100-pound 2-year-old she'd have been hauled off for child abuse. But when it comes to animals there seems to be a definite double standard. I had a chunky cat once, but she weighed about 15 pounds. I fed her very little food. She was just a big cat. But even still I was concerned about her health. I can't fathom how an owner can be so casual about a pet that they should love and care for.

That's about all the rant I have in me now. I'm off to go empty boxes and get moved in.
