A Poet.

I am truly in love with Chris Barron's writings. Here is
a sample. One of my favorite quotes of his is:
"For me, music is the phenomenon that occurs when your soul and the physical
world meet. Depending on which part of your soul is touching which part of
the physical world is the kind of music you get."

I was really thinking about that this morning as I came in to work. I was listening to James Blunt and was in quite a deep mood. It was a sort of deep melancholy, but not sad exactly. I was trying to figure out what I was feeling and wasn't able to put my finger on it. Then I thought of that quote and knew that the music was touching some very sensitive part of my soul. James (the band) is kind of the same way for me. It evokes a million emotions at once and leaves me feeling very... sensitive, I guess.

Anyway, Chris Barron's writing is along the same lines. It gets to me somewhere deep inside. And say what you will about the Spin Doctors as a band, even if someday I tire of their music I will never tire of Chris' musings. Here's one more from a site I made a million years ago in some other lifetime. At one point on that site I had an article on there that had him quoted as saying that if he were ever insane he'd be one of those goofy crazy guys running around in the grass with a butterfly net. Somehow I believe him and I love that image. It never fails to bring a smile to my face.

That is a great image. What kind of crazy would you be? I'm gonna be the kind of crazy where you become a hermit in the mountains and learn how to talk to bears and mountain lions and forget how to talk to people.
