Today was pretty sweet. I took the day off due to our ward's temple day. I got some volunteer time in as well as doing a session. It was strange seeing so many people I knew. There was even a very extended family wedding so that brought even more people I knew including some shorties.
Then we went to Ruby Tuesdays. It's been ages since I've been there. They have a really good salad bar.
And finally, the big event we've (and by this I mean the husband) has been waiting for for the last 3 years... Spiderman 3. It was okay, but really cheesy in parts and had a really over the top shot of the American flag. I'll leave it at that. I just couldn't believe how clueless Peter was. He had an upside-down kiss with someone besides MJ. I guess I'm just a chick, but that was really really not cool. It was kind of a lot of movie crammed into 2.5 hours.
I don't have to work tomorrow. I get the whole day to myself. What's a gal to do? Well... this gal is going to watch a documentary about the US so graciously taking over the island Bikini in the late 40's to test a nuclear bomb. We brought excitement to the lives of these simple people who are probably bored of living in peace in their island paradise. I <3 America! Sometimes this country makes me really angry. At least when he's not angrying up my blood, our beloved president is providing comic relief by dancing a malaria jig or calling himself "The Commander Guy". Where was I? Oh, yeah. My day off. Sorry about that. I just don't get people sometimes.
Speaking of not getting people... We took a stroll around the theater to check out movie posters since we had some time to kill. We also have 4 $25 gift cards for the movies. Each one is just enough for two tickets to a matinee and the popcorn combo. That's one for Spidey and one for Simpsons. What other movies are we going to use them on? Let's have a gander at the upcoming flicks, shall we? So we looked at every last poster in the place and found nothing. I think I'd like to see Ocean's 13 just because it looks fun. But other than that every poster either looked really generic or really irritating. I'm beyond sick to death of CGI animal flicks. They stopped being funny about 8 years ago. Surfing penguins??? Please. And I was all Shreked out before 2 came out and now it's 3. I loathe Matt Damon so Bourne Identity 3 makes me wanna wretch. Narnia 2 comes out next summer I hear. At least that's something. Actually, I'm sure we'll find something good to see before then. I have faith that Hollywood can put out something decent, even if it's by sheer accident. No wonder my Netflix queue is chock full of documentaries.
