What I Am Thankful For: Day 2

I am so thankful for all of God's creation. I am constantly awed by the beauty and wonder of the natural world. I can't imagine living without lots of green space, trees, animals, birds, and even the sky and the rain. I highly recommend the BBC production, Planet Earth. Anyone who watches that and doesn't see the majesty of this world we live in wasn't paying attention.

Being out in nature soothes one's soul and reminds us that there are other things out there besides our selfish wants and desires. It reminds us that this big blue marble we live on is very much alive. You can feel her spirit if you try. You can also get a little better picture of heaven and Heavenly Father by taking it all in.

Sadly, I live in Suburbia and there's not a lot of nature around. I recently put some pictures on my Flickr page that show the trees I pass on my way to work. That's one example of the bit of nature we have. There is also a park not too far away from where I live. I also understand they've just opened a new one that sounds like it will be even better. I will definitely have to check it out.

One last thing... I absolutely cannot overemphasize that animals do definitely have souls. They have personalities just as you and I. They are all sacred, from the majestic Siberian Tiger down to the naked mole rat. As I'm oft to say (sometimes in jest), they are all God's creatures. But they really are. Even the snakes & spiders. I love them all.
