The thing I’m most thankful for is my family.
Blah, I don’t know what I’d do without him. I never thought I’d find someone to love me, but I have. And he’s my best friend which makes it all the better. When I feel like it’s me against the world, I know I can come home at the end of the day and spend some time with my biggest champion and comrade. He really gets me, which is a very rare thing these days. I feel so safe and happy when I’m with him.
My parents have made me who I am today, for better or worse. They provided me with a safe, loving home and family to grow up in. That may not sound like much, but I’m eternally grateful for it. I miss them like mad and wish I could be with them now. I’m very sad they’re working on selling my childhood home, but they’ve both worked so hard and lived so modestly their whole lives that they deserve every last comfort that retirement can provide. And that includes a new home “up north” away from the insanity of suburban sprawl.
Those of you who know my brother know what an awesome guy he is. We had our share of fights growing up, but he’s one of my favorite people. I so admire his sense of adventure and love of life. He’s accomplished so much in his life and I’m really proud of that. If I could have a do-over in life, I’d try to be more like him.
